Discover the new designs by Hlynur Atlason and Patricia Urquiola presented at the latest edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano.

Akur is a collection of high tables, low tables, and consoles featuring soft, organic shapes designed by Hlynur Atlason for Glas Italia, crafted by bonding acid-etched laminated glass components available in five natural shades: pink, moss green, brown, burnt red, and warm gray.

Thanks to a complex lamination technique, the top is engineered by assembling a 6 mm sheet of extralight glass with several 6 mm frosted Fluted (ribbed) glass panels positioned so that their grooves run in different directions. On the high table, the top rests on the base, which is made of 6+6 mm laminated frosted extralight glass, whereas the low tables and consoles are bonded into a single piece.

Glacier is the second collection presented during the latest edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano, designed in this case by Patricia Urquiola. It is a set of low tables made of fused glass, subjected to a high-temperature molding process.

The top is formed by fusing a molded sheet of colored glass (bronze, gray, blue, or amber) onto a sheet of extralight glass, creating an irregular surface that evokes the formation of glaciers—altering the perception of the material and enhancing its relationship with light. The glass loses its uniformity, acquiring a denser, more physical presence that pushes the boundary between solidity and fluidity to the limit: the surface appears to melt as it comes to rest on the lower structure, spreading randomly and settling gently upon it.

The base, made of 12 mm fused and bonded transparent glass, enhances the top through its visual lightness. In the side tables, the top is attached to the base, whereas in the remaining models it merely rests on it.
